From the five snapshots of a town's development stages created in an earlier project (find it in the gallery) the step towards an animated representation of this visualized history was small. However, the challenges were: How to lead the viewer trough this vast amount of visual information? How much additional information to provide trough a text channel? And if only the five snapshots were historically accurate then how is it not misleading to show a projected sequential development house by house that has no basis on facts?
So the main message of the animation is "change". The small changes in the early centuries and the massive changes in modern times. It provides an experience of visually unmasking situation after situation - easy to follow by a repeating pattern of the unmasking animation. The short brakes allow for enough time to acquire the date and an impression of the fully unmasked situation.
